The Dawn of a Dream

Good morning

I've long loved to watch the sun rise each morning, because it reminds me that a wondrous new dawn is always possible. We all embark on new beginnings, sometimes because we have no choice. Other times we look out with a smile and a ray of hope to the uncharted waters that we chose to enter. That's how I feel today. My parents immigrated to the U.S. from S. Korea many years ago, with little assured to them but a chance at a new life, both for themselves and their two children. They worked incredibly hard to build a foundation for us to have options, including for me to attend law school and to practice law for over 10 years, The dream was always simple: happiness, success, and prosperity--the definition of "halcyon".

After leaving the practice of law, I became a legal recruiter so that I may combine my knowledge of the legal industry with a growing desire I had to help attorneys better navigate their careers. Looking back, I know I would have been a better attorney and would have made wiser career decisions had I had a seasoned, grounded source of guidance. In my role as a recruiter, I'm able to provide this and more to attorneys.

I was blessed to have worked with and learned from a wonderful, talented team of recruiters at my former company, Cardinal Search Partners, and at SJL Attorney Search before that. I was ready to hang my own shingle because, well, I felt the entrepreneurial pull of my parents' American experience, and the excitement of launching a recruiting shop that is built on three pillars I strive to honor: a relentless pursuit of knowledge about the industry and the markets; a commitment to deeply understanding the needs of clients and candidate-attorneys; and a mighty respect for my clients and candidate-attorneys in who they are and the assistance they seek.

I look forward to working with clients on their lateral hiring needs. I look forward to working with attorneys on their career strategies, whether it's to find a better fit for their priorities and goals, or to more effectively position themselves for a partner title down the road.

May all your days be halcyon, and may every sunrise bring you a chance at something brighter.
